THE Hawks notched an impressive four-wicket victory over the Penguins in their latest match at Silcoates School in Wakefield last Saturday.

The hosts would have been in serious trouble before tea if the visitors had held their catches, but they allowed the Penguins to make 201-5, thanks mainly to a superb 126 not out by Tom Kemp jnr.

No other Penguin made more than 17 and no Hawk took more than one wicket, but there were no less than seven dropped catches.

Following an exquisite tea, the Hawks set about their chase from the word go, Ted Lester (47) and Fred Parker (57) putting on 82 in nine overs for the first wicket.

But a middle-order collapse of five wickets for three runs followed, leaving the Hawks on 132-6.

However, Jim Holdsworth (49no) and Fred Watson (50no) had a swift unbroken partnership of 72 to take the visitors to victory at 204-6.

The Hawks' next game is on Saturday, August 27 against Suffolk visitors Acton at Cracoe (1.30pm).
