West Yorkshire League Premier Division: Wetherby Athletic 0 Ilkley Town 1
ILKLEY Town's first match at Step Seven ended with them notching a relatively comfortable victory.
Town started the better and had most of the early possession, which led to half-chances, the best going to James Mackie, who steered the ball just wide of a post when stretching on the half-hour.
Wetherby threatened with a couple of set-pieces, without creating anything clear cut, but they continued to be positive in the second half, their striker poking the ball well wide when one-on-one.
Town's response was to keep possession again and, getting on top, they took the lead just before the hour.
Matt Tollefson's shot through a crowded area, with Iain Blackburn finishing from close range.
Ilkley then saw the game out without alarm, James Wilson playing a key part in a solid performance that brought a first clean sheet of the season.
Ilkley Town are due to face Pool at Ben Rhydding Sports Club tonight (6.30), while on Saturday they host Hunslet Club at the same venue (2.30pm).
Next Wednesday, Town are at Knaresborough Town (7.30).
