TOM Adams won Monday's Ilkley Trail Race in a new record time on a day when many Ilkley Harriers produced fine performances.

His victory came two days after he had finished eighth in the European Mountain Running Trial at Whinlatter Forest, Cumbria.

Adams led the field home in 38:44 and combined with Ruardih Mon-Williams, Ben Shepherd and Jack Cummings to take the men's team prize.

The ladies also won their team event through the efforts of Rachel Carter, Jann Smith and Lucy Williamson.

Harriers also had six age group winners. Mon Williams (u-23), Nick Pearce (MV60), Rachel Carter (LV40), Jann Smith (LV45), Adela Reperecki (LV55) and Hilda Coulsey (LV60).

At the Edinburgh Marathon on Sunday, Fiona Schneider finished her tenth marathon, in 4hr 41min. She was accompanied by her son Jonathan who was running his first.

Smith and Paul Carman ran the Hutton Roof Crags fell race on Saturday while there was another first for Jack Wood in the Harrogate & District Summer Race League race in Nidd Valley on Tuesday with Mathew Cox taking third place.
