OPENERS Jamie Pickering and James Davies put on 110 to set Otley on the road to victory over Pool in the Bank Holiday programme of re-arranged matches, washed out on the opening day of the season.

Pickering hit 14 fours and three sixes in his 111 and Davies made a half century. Nick Bulcock weighed in with an unbeaten 56 as Otley raced to 303-6.

Charlie Bell (50) led the reply sharing half-century stands with recent signing Pat Dixon (49) and John Goldthorp (26) but Pool were still 69 short at the close.

Despite a 5-50 haul by Stephen Pearson, Kirkstall set a useful target of 250-9, which looked far too good for Steeton when they lost their first two wickets for 16 runs. But John Akrigg (102no) and Andrew Foulds (79) put on 169 and previously struggling Steeton went on to clinch their second win of the weekend.

Sami Rehman (51), Nick Brook (71) and Ed Brown (66) steered Burley to 273-9 and Shane Etherington took 4-50 as North Leeds were dismissed for 215.

Horsforth continued their confident start to the season with Byron Boshoff (111) and Ollie Hardaker (56) combining to put them on the way to 266-9. Collingham could find no answer to the attack of Charlie Swallow (4-43) and Matthew Wainwright (3-17) and were bowled out for 165.

Bilton was no place for those of a nervous disposition as the home side clinched victory over Rawdon with the last available ball.

George Myers (70) and Kuda Samunderu (63) helped Rawdon recover from 2-1 to 213-7 with a stand of 145. Bilton looked well in command but Myers had Sajad Ali caught to make it 197-5 and two overs later Rawdon picked up wickets in two consecutive balls at 210 with only five balls left, only to be thwarted at the death.

Ilkley became the latest victims of Beckwithshaw’s winning start to the season, bowled out for 101 in reply to the home side’s 216-9.

Division Two leaders Guiseley suffered their first defeat, nearest rivals Colton were steered past their 155 total by Bradley Firn (77no).

Despite the efforts of Paul Quinlan (44), Harden struggled to recover from losing their first two wickets without scoring in the opening over and Addingham eased past the 105 target with six wickets to spare. Their star man was Henry Barrow who followed up a 4-32 spell with an unbeaten half century.

There was no joy for Thackley who were unable to defend their meagre 123, Knaresborough getting over the line with five wickets in hand.

Mark McEneaney (97no) and James Carlill (5-43) starred as Hall Park continued to dominate Division Three with a five-wicket win at Upper Wharfedale.

Tong Park Esholt are hot on their heels after a four-wicket win over Bardsey that included a second hat-trick in nine days for Mahir Ali. Ajanthe Weerapuli (57) and James Druce (50) led the successful run chase.

But both the leading clubs will have to keep an eye on Leeds Modernians who made short work of Menston after bowling them out for 100.

Tom Smallwood (52) top scored in Olicanian’s 171 before Ed Broadley (5-33) and Bernard Hughes (3-28) skittled out Bolton Villas for just 69.

Azhar Mehmood (4-50) and Mike Ellis (3-32) helped restrict New Rover to 178 and Mehmood then saw Green Lane to victory with an unbeaten 57.

There was a shock for Silsden when they were bundled out for 70 and beaten by eight wickets by struggling Alwoodley.
