TWO young Aire-Wharfe League cricketers helped Yorkshire to win the English Schools Under-13 Festival at Taunton.

Burley’s Matthew Revis and Eliot Goldthorp of Rawdon featured in the White Rose team which went through the tournament unbeaten in their five matches.

Opener Revis, who attends Ilkley Grammar School, hit three half-centuries as he contributed 239 runs to his team's cause at an average of 59.75. His highest score was 96 in the emphatic 192-run win over Shropshire in the final match where Goldthorp, a student at Benton Park, recorded his top score of 40.

Revis' other half-centuries came against Derbyshire and Cambridgeshire. He made 53 on both occasions, finishing not out against Cambridgeshire when Yorkshire won by ten wickets.

That match also saw him record his best bowling performance of the week as he picked up 3-16.

Two years ago, Revis set a Yorkshire Schools under-11 record when he scored 1,059 runs.
