BURLEY fell just short in their chase of Follifoot's 251-9 in Division One of the Aire-Wharfe League – but there was some consolation in the performances of two promising teenagers.

The ever-reliable Nick Brook (73) and Ed Brown (42) gave Burley hope they might pass the impressive target but when Brown went at 185-8 with less than eight overs to go, victory was clearly out of reach.

His exit brought 15-year-old Alfie Roy-Webb to the crease to join 16-year-old Sam Fox and the pair put on an unbeaten 48 to earn their side two more batting bonus points, Fox finishing on 21 not out and Roy-Webb 26 not out.

Ilkley were also involved in an unsuccessful pursuit, falling 38 short of Bilton's 241-2 in which Ryan Bradshaw hit 119 not out off 122 balls.

Kuda Samunderu (32) made a solid start to his Rawdon career and, with Andrew Duckworth making 45, they looked set for a decent total against Otley.

But James Davies (5-42) and a spell from Ricky Halloran which included two wickets in two balls saw Rawdon collapse from 133-4 to 139 all out.

Otley were, however, thwarted because the rain prevented them from batting.

Steeton's game against Kirkstall was also abandoned, leaving John Akrigg unbeaten on 45 and Andrew Foulds stranded on 99 not out.

It was another tough afternoon for Guiseley. They were unable to cope with Toby Jacklin's five-wicket spell and were dismissed for 125 in reply to Collingham's 226-7.

Mick Scott (3-38) and Nadeem Hanif (3-36) restricted Green Lane to 132 and raised hopes of a first win for Tong Park Esholt. But Neil Britton (4-39) and Azhar Mehmood (5-25) dismissed the visitors for 100 to keep Lane second in Division Two.

They are just behind Colton, who managed to pass Thackley's 147 with three wickets to spare – despite the efforts of Adam Boocock (4-28).

Evergreen Charlie Swallow (92) helped Ben Rhydding to 224-8 but Luke Brooksby smashed 76 not out off 48 balls to clinch victory for Illingworth.

Skipton managed to defend a modest 183 at Horsforth thanks to a superb spell of 5-42 from Iqbal Khan.

Horsforth had looked on course when in-form Gareth Lee (77) and Ollie Hardaker (52) put on 90 for the third wicket but after that wickets started to tumble and they were dismissed eight runs short of victory.

Harden's game against Adel was rained off.

Aussie Nathan Harford played a major role in Addingham's eight-wicket win over Menston that puts them second in the Division Three table.

He picked up 5-53 as Menston were bowled out for 191, the main batting contribution coming from Kyle Smith (66) and Shahid Bashir (48).

Harford then hit an unbeaten 87 and, with Ricky Palacio (44no), clinched a comfortable win.

Steve Phillips was the Hall Park hero as they clinched their first win, beating Bardsey by 15 runs.

Phillips hit 92 in Park's 216-4 and stumped Bardsey top-scorer Peter Pratt (69) just as he looked as though he might be going to win the match for the visitors.

Calverley gave notice they will be a team to watch this season when they skittled out the normally prolific New Rover for 78 to set up a nine-wicket win. Jatinder Singh, whose 7-29 included three wickets in an over, did the damage.

Manley du Preez (33) was top scorer in Silsden's 176 but it was not enough to stop Old Modernians recording their first win since joining the league.

Olicanian were 79-3 when rain stopped their match against Bolton Villas.
