ILKLEY are looking to erase the memory of one of their worst performances of the season when Northern visit Stacks Field on Saturday.

The visitors were the last team to defeat the North One East title chasers when they triumphed 22-16 on November 29.

The Dalesmen have reeled off 11 straight wins since then to stand just a single point behind leaders Sheffield with three games to go.

They will also be striving to extend their unbeaten home record to 28 matches as the season heads for a thrilling conclusion.

"The defeat at Northern was an extremely disappointing match for us. We played poorly and they took full advantage," admitted coach Rhys Morgan.

"I am sure they will see that we are a much different proposition now. We have grown as a team and the lads have worked so hard to get us where we are and nobody wants to squander the position now."

Morgan and the club's selectors will again face tough choices when they sit down tonight. Scrum half Ed Brown and flanker Will Davies were the latest second teamers to come into the side an impress in last Saturday's 41-17 win at Old Crossleyans which guaranteed them of least finishing second.

The men they replaced, Tom Collard and Ollie Renton, are both available to return to a side that will be led by the experienced Alistair Monks with skipper Stuart Vincent unavailable. Yorkshire under-20 player Ben Magee will slot in at full back.

Morgan is getting used to tough choices. He said: "Last week I had to tell my own son Charlie that I was giving the scrum half position to Ed Brown ahead of him. It proved to be the right call because Ed had a fine game.

"It is important in all of these situations that we look at what is best for the team. We want to finish top and avoid a promotion play off if we can. It is important to get selection right.

"We have had quite a high turnover of players compared to last season. That doesn't normally fit with being successful but it is testament to everybody who has been called upon to play that they have played their part in getting us to where we are now."
