Ilkley Dynamo 7 Salts 0

THE Wharfedale Triangle League Cup holders continued their improvement in form and produced some of their best football of the season to secure their semi-final place.

An early goal by Phil Thommesen started an attacking adventure for Dynamo, who took their chances well after seizing the lead.

They showed a desire to win the game thanks to some fluent passing and width down the flanks.

Oli Blair and Danny Bott took a grip in central midfield, with the tenacious Sam Jacomb defending comfortably to deny the rare Salts attacks.

The whole team gave an impressive performance and they played with confidence, attitude and total commitment. Their mobility and touch across the front line was too much for the visitors to handle.

A brace of goals by Tom Higman, one a sensational strike from 40 yards which swerved into the top corner of the net, exerted a good measure of control at 3-0.

The impressive Ross Wilson showed some adept lay-offs and unselfish exchanges before adding two further goals himself to take his tally for the season to 12.

Steve Robinson made a string of fine saves for Salts, including a penalty, to deny a rampant home side.

Throughout the game, Dynamo had displayed a clinical touch and two further goals from Thommesen, to complete his hat-trick, ensured Dynamo had produced a powerful performance to put them through to the semi-final.
