ANDREW Munro insists that Ilkley will not allow the growing talk of promotion to cloud their thinking.

And the club's chairman or rugby, currently recovering from back surgery, insists they are looking no further ahead than their next game.

The Dalesmen's 36-24 win over Dinnington on Saturday was their tenth in a row and has carried them up to within one point of North One East leaders Sheffield.

The victory also extended their unbeaten run at Stacks Field to 27 games – 26 wins and one draw – but Munro is not interested in the statistics, impressive as they are.

"All season we have just focussed on the next game. We aren't going to get ahead of ourselves now," said Munro.

Ilkley have a break from league action this weekend before facing a potential banana skin at Old Crossleyans, the lowly side who beat Sheffield two weeks ago.

"Coach Rhys Morgan and the players have done a wonderful job, but the whole club seems to have grown too.

"I am delighted with the way the second team have performed, particularly after the horrendous start to the season when they were decimated through injuries to many first teamers.

"It has meant players like Will Coates, James Colclough and John Pickersgill have come in and made their mark. They are all youngsters who we hope will be the future of the club."

Munro, who has been stunned by the level of support the team now receive both home and away, has also been impressed by the leadership qualities of the team's elder statesmen, Alistair Monks, Ollie Renton, Steve Graham and Stuart Vincent.

"They have played a huge part in helping the newcomers to settle into the side. I cannot praise them enough. Both Ollie and Steve have moved around within the pack and made a huge impact, while Alistair and Stuart have helped our young backs to make their mark."
