Wakefield 6 Ben Rhydding 2
BEN Rhydding Ladies came up against a very strong and well organised Wakefield side, who were sitting on top of the Investec Conference North League.
The first half consisted of some very competitive play and well-taken penalty corners, with both sides netting in the first ten minutes. Tanisha Janzen was the scorer for Rhydding.
Rhydding found themselves 3-1 down with Wakefield playing flowing hockey.
However, Rhydding scored their second through Eleanor Trafford after a counter attack found the Wakefield goalkeeper in no man’s land.
Rhydding battled hard in the second half but two green cards in quick succession found them down to nine players and trying to stop a well-organised Wakefield side.
Wakefield scored three goals in ten minutes and with Rhydding tiring, the away side couldn’t find a reply and lost 6-2.
This week they are at home to Brooklands Poynton (1.30pm).
