Ilkley Dynamo 9 Otley Tavern 2

DYNAMO delivered a compelling display to destroy Otley Tavern 9-2 to go through to the third round of the Wharfedale Triangle League Cup.

The holders made an early breakthrough when Danny Henderson hit a powerful strike after some slick inter play as Dynamo began to take control of the game.

They surged forward regularly forcing some stunning reaction saves from the Otley goalkeeper, Richard Henry. The home side both out-passed and outplayed the visitors with Oli Blair and Dom Grimes asserting themselves well in midfield.

The unselfish Ross Wilson attacked with some fine forays forward and he set up numerous chances in a team intent on playing with plenty of control and movement.

The persistent Phil Thommesen had a fine game, scoring three goals – his third hat trick of the season – as Dynamo dominated possession.

Further goals from Craig Bentham, Ben Cater, Sam Jacomb and a second goal from Danny Henderson resulted in a nine-goal spree for the home team.

The Dynamo keeper, Rob Powell, ensured that any of the visitors' sporadic attacks were well covered and although Otley did manage to breakthrough with two late goals, Dynamo had given another impressive performance in an attempt to maintain their hold on the League Cup.

Dynamo are at home against Yeadon Veterans in a Wharfedale and District FA Sunday Cup quarter-final tie on Sunday, a competition sponsored by Machells of Guiseley.
