Ben Rhydding Ladies 1 Loughborough Students 5

Ben Rhydding welcomed back their previous coach James Ross with his new club Loughborough Students

Rhydding were going into the game on a high after their first win of the season last weekend, but they were brought back down to earth with a bump.

Rhydding started the strongest with many chances being created for strikers Jen Wilson, Jo Ellis and Jess Purvis.

Coach Issy Macdonald’s tactics were working with the Students unable to deal with the pressure they were being put under all over the pitch by Ben Rhydding.

Rhydding deservedly took the lead thanks to a mazy run down the right by Wilson whose final pass was deflected into the net by a defender.

The lead didn’t last long though as Loughborough started to settle and levelled just before half-time.

The second half went downhill for Ben Rhydding. After initially dealing with the high fitness levels of the students, goals seemed to come one after the other for the visitors.

Ben Rhydding were left to rue the penalty corners and counter attack opportunities they failed to capitalise on.

Next week sees another tough match away at Sutton Coldfield.
