OTLEY AC members were at Hampden Park supporting Racheal Bamford in the Commonwealth Games steeplechase final. Her seventh-placed 9min 45.51sec was a personal best.
Ursula McGouran said: “We were lucky enough to be there to watch Racheal race and she was magnificent. She kept her head, ran her own race and was closing down Eilish McColgan. She did herself and her local town proud.”
The winning Kenyan trio were meanwhile front-page news in Nairobi’s The Star newspaper
Major championship newcomer Racheal Bamford, from Otley AC, was a plucky seventh in the women’s 3000 metre steeplechase, while two competitors were flying the flag for Wales from our region.
