TALENTED Josh Kimber has given Ilkley a big boost ahead of their return to North East One.

The stand-off, who was a key figure in last season’s Yorkshire Division One title and Yorkshire Shield successes, has confirmed that he is to stay with the Stacks Field outfit.

Their had been fears that the club would lose their top points scorer, and head of rugby Rhys Morgan is delighted that the young player is staying.

He said: “Josh made a big impression last season and was a key part of our success. There was some uncertainty about his plans both on and off the field, but I am delighted he is staying with us.

“It is important that we keep the squad that did so well together.

“We know that many of our players have attracted interest from elsewhere, but we are determined to keep them all.”

The Dalesmen have already made one new signing. Young full back Ben Magee has been recruited from Yorkshire Division Three side Old Grovians.

“He is a very capable player,” said Morgan, who has regularly brought players from lower leagues and developed them into first teamers.

Ilkley will prepare for the new season with a friendly at Kendal on Friday, August 22. That will be followed by a Yorkshire Cup first round tie at Wheatley Hills on August 30.
