THERE was Aire-Wharfe League heartache for Third Division Addingham, who came close to a second Waddilove Cup giant-killing feat after a brilliant century from Johnny Johnson put them on the way to setting Adel a target of 232-6.

Johnson (102) and Will Atkins (52) added 144 for the second wicket to put Addingham in with a real chance of repeating their surprise win over Rawdon in the previous round.

Adel, who are in the Second Division’s top three, were reduced to 111-4 before a quickfire 38 not out from Rob Brown helped them clinch victory with 16 balls and three wickets in hand.

Wicket-keeper Paul Nicholson was one of the Otley heroes as they recovered from a shaky start to see off Horsforth, another second-round giant-killer.

The Division Three leaders looked set to take a second Division One scalp when they bowled out Otley for 118.

The target looked well within Horsforth’s capabilities but Nicholson snapped up five catches behind the stumps and Morley rounded off a fine display with 4-13. Ricky Halloran weighed in with 3-25 and the home side were dismissed for just 72.

That win produced a mouth-watering semi-final against Guiseley, who made short work of a Bilton side that lie third in Division One.
