It’s all change at the top of JCT600 Bradford League Division One thanks to an outstanding all-round performance from Chris Brice.

He made a determined half-century to rescue his side from 44-5 and followed up by taking 6-16 as Woodlands inflicted a first league defeat of the season on Farsley and snatched the leadership from them.

Thanks to Brice (50) and skipper Pieter Swanepoel (31no), Woodlands were able to repair the damage done by Farsley’s overseas player Graham Hume (5-14) to post a score of 143-8.

Farsley’s top order was blown away by Sarfraz Ahmed (4-19) before Brice got in on the act and bowled them out for just 73.

Champions Cleckheaton also climbed above Farsley after getting a maximum 20 points for their 152-run win over second-from-bottom East Bierley.

Overseas player Tanzeel Afzal top-scored with 74 as Cleckheaton compiled a total of 249-6 before bowling out their rivals for 97. Spinner Andrew Deegan (5-36) and paceman James Lee (3-30) did the damage.

At the other end of the table, Yeadon defeated New Farnley by 40 runs to register their first win and lift themselves out of the relegation positions.

The decision to promote wicketkeeper Jake Wray to opener paid dividends with a rapid 74 as he and Tariq Mehboob (50) helped their side to post a challenging 227.

New Farnley, who are finding the going tough in the top flight, were bowled out for 187, despite a breezy 63 from Nick Walker, who had earlier taken 4-45.

Yeadon’s best bowlers were Muhammad Saeed (4-37) and Oliver Halliday (3-38).

Yeadon’s win leaves Pudsey Congs, champions as recently as 2010, propping up the table. They are still without a win as rain prevented a conclusion to their derby with St Lawrence.

Opener Bilal Akram was unbeaten on 51 for Congs in their 115-3 when rain brought a halt with 17 overs to play.

Congs, the only top-flight team without a win, were replying to St Lawrence’s 216-6, which was built around a good knock of 68 from opener Adam Waite.

There was late drama at Morley, where Nathan Bromby (3-11) took three wickets in four balls in the 49th over to seal a six-wicket win over Bradford & Bingley.

David Clow top-scored with 40 for Bradford & Bingley as they tried unsuccessfully to overcome a Morley total of 135-6, which owed much to a patient innings of 56 from teenage batsman James McNichol.

The day’s quickest finish was at Bennett Lame, where Hanging Heaton bowled out Lightcliffe for 86 to set up an eight-wicket win.

Off-spinner David Paynter took (5-24) and Dan Busfield (3-32) as the visitors crumbled.

Skipper Gary Fellows, who played his junior cricket at Lightcliffe, steered his side home with an unbeaten 58.

There were first defeats of the season for the top two in Division Two.

Leaders Keighley were bowled out for just 39 by Bankfoot as evergreen Greg Colehan took 5-16 to secure a 79-run win.

Undercliffe were also dismissed cheaply. They were all out for 67 as overseas player Waqas Maqsood (4-17) and Mushtaq Ahmed (4-12) secured a 93-run win for third-placed Baildon, who based their 160 total on a fine 88 from James Ford.
