Guiseley 6 AFC Telford 1

Guiseley hauled themselves into the play-off places in the Conference North last night as they hit second-placed AFC Telford United for six of the best.

The Lions went into the game on the back of a disappointing draw while a stalemate on Saturday had also cost Telford as they lost the leadership.

Any hopes they had of returning to the summit were eradicated by the rampant Lions.

The home side lost Ben Parker to injury before the half-hour – Rhys Meynell replacing him – but minutes later they broke the deadlock. Danny Ellis netted following a Wayne Brooksby free-kick and Gavin Rothery added the second in the 38th minute.

Rothery netted from the penalty spot in the second half after a foul on Brooksby and Adam Boyes made it 4-0 just eight minutes after the break.

Telford pulled a goal back through substitute Mike Phoenix but a late brace from Alex Johnson completed the rout.
