Ilkley’s head of rugby Rhys Morgan is calling on his players to produce “six of the best” as their Yorkshire One promotion campaign enters its most crucial phase.

Saturday’s trip to bottom team Acklam launches a run in which includes tough away assignments against fellow promotion rivals Dinnington and Doncaster Phoenix.

“These last six games will define our season,” said Morgan. “I know it is a long campaign but we have to maintain our focus and our perfor-mance levels.

“It is important that we concen-trate on producing six of our best performances. We can’t influence or worry about what others are doing, we must simply look at our own situation.”

Ilkley had a break from action last Saturday when their game was called off due to opponents York being involved in the RFU Inter-mediate Cup.

The squad trained at Stacks Field and Morgan is hoping that they will be refreshed and raring to go at Acklam.

His one concern is complacency. “We mustn’t under-estimate our opponents. Acklam have had a tough time but they have to be respected.

“They have run some of their opponents close on their home ground and we must make sure we go about our job properly,” warned Morgan.

Ilkley, who have boosted their squad for the run in with the signing of Australian back row forward Nick Carolan, are expected to be at full strength at Acklam.

The experienced Alastair Monks. who missed the win at Pontefract two weeks ago, is available to return to the centre while Ryan Cooper and Steve Nolson have recovered from illness.
