Ilkley Dynamo 4 Idle United 1

Dynamo secured another emphatic win in their first Wharfedale Triangle Premier Division game of the New Year.

The home side had the lion’s share of possession early in the game, despite tough conditions on a heavy pitch.

Idle showed a lot of resilience in stemming some creative Dynamo attacks with Liam Hudson impress- ing for the home side on his debut.

The breakthrough came after a fine individual effort from the determined Chris Holmes resulting in him hitting a powerful shot to give Dynamo a deserved 1-0 lead.

Although Dynamo raised the tempo, with Craig Bentham giving an excellent captain’s performance in the heart of midfield, it was Idle who fought back with an equaliser after a pinpoint cross from a corner was headed home.

Dynamo then produced some intricate moves with Danny Kenna controlling the play. Chris Holmes restored the Dyn- amo lead at 2-1 thanks to a fine headed goal, his second of the match, to take his tally for the season to eight.

Both Simon Walker and Sam Jacomb battled hard to retrieve the ball when lost in possession and the 'keeper, Shane Etherington was always alert whenever Idle did manage to foray forward.

Some excellent creativity and a look of solidarity from the whole team helped Dynamo to dominate the latter stages.

The visitors’ rearguard was breached gain late on, with two well-taken goals from Bentham, one an impressive back-heel flick and the other the result of some excellent work from Luke Hudson.

The goals sealed another notable Dynamo home victory.
