Ilkley Dynamo 2 Stanningley Albion 1

Dynamo gave another magnificent team performance to go through to the last eight of the West Riding County FA Sunday Cup.

The match was switched to Ilkley, with agreement from all parties when Stanningley’s pitch was unfit.

The Bradford Sunday Alliance Premier Division side certainly provided stern opposition.

Both teams had opportunities to take an early lead before the visitors were awarded a penalty after 15 minutes which was con- verted to give them a 1-0 lead.

Speed of passing and any refinement on the ball was difficult on a heavy pitch.

A full bloodied cup tie kept the spectators enthralled and Sam Jacomb impressed for Dynamo as the game remained deadlocked for long periods.

The versatile Luke Hudson and the competitive Danny Kenna worked hard as Dynamo sought to take command.

Chris Holmes and James Winward also battled hard as a different Dynamo team emerged after the break.

Tom Higman made a major impact with a spectacular diagonal looping shot to bring Dynamo deservedly level at 1-1.

It prompted the team to move up a gear as they showed more of their recent run of good form.

They gradually gained a stronger foothold in the latter stages, despite a few scares.

Craig Bentham, who had been a constant menace to Stanningley, showed lightening reflexes to finish emphatically to put Dynamo 2-1 ahead with five minutes remaining.

Now in-form Dynamo can look forward to a quarter-final on Sunday, February 2.
