French connection for Ilkley riders

Three teams of racers from Ilkley CC, along with partners and supporters, travelled to Normandy for a weekend of racing.
The event was the prestigious Duo Normand Time Trial, which is held annually very close to llkley’s twinned town of Coutances.
Riders compete as pairs and the event attracts significant interest from professional as well as amateur racers.
The first team off was David Kinloch and Ged Millward, who completed the hilly 33-mile course in a strong 01:17:52 and were third in the competitive veterans category.
Alison Kinloch and Steph anie Millward were their support crew, ready with spare wheels, and handled the job with aplomb.
The next pair off was Leanne Farrow and Emily Hallworth.
The pair flew around a slightly shorter 26-mile course in 01:14:10, beating their time from last year by five minutes and placing eighth.
Ged and Dave postponed their celebrations to act as the support vehicle drivers.
Sometime later in the afternoon, the final pair of Ben Hallworth and Ewan Farrow rode strongly in the Category 1 and 2 class, supported by Kevin and Liz Barrett.
They and completed the full 33-mile course in 01:14:41, coming ninth in their category.
