Tordoff looks to build on maiden win
11:59am Thursday 22nd August 2013 in Sport
Sam Tordoff, fresh from his maiden British Touring Car Championship win at Snetterton, heads for Scotland this weekend.
The Rawdon driver will be racing at Knockhill as the battle for the 2013 championship hots up.
Tordoff and his MG KX Momentum Racing team will be aware of the fact that they didn’t make the most of their pace at Snetterton.
After stellar work from the squad to develop its cars the MG6 was the fastest machine in Norfolk, but ultimately failed to take the results its pace deserved.
Double champion Jason Plato had a particularly tough time after he followed home Tordoff to take second in race one. From there the touring cars legend suffered mechanical failure in race two and a spectacular accident in the final showdown – where his car was fired into a dramatic barrel roll after heavy contact with the barrier.
Plato emerged unscathed but he knows that Knockhill could make or break his title hopes.
There are arguably six drivers who could currently regard themselves as 2013 championship contender with Matt Neal leading the way despite his run of 14 top six finishes came to an end at Snetterton.
Pirtek Racing’s Andrew Jordan has been nicely poised in second place for much of the season and another victory at Snetterton further boosted his title chances.
