James Walshaw scored two first-half goals in Guiseley's much-needed 3-2 victory at Corby Town
Corby Town 2, Guiseley 3
Guiseley staker James Walshaw redeemed himself following last Saturday’s red card as he bagged a brace to set his side on course to a 3-2 win in the Blue Square Bet North Division tonight.
The Lions are second, even though they have been experiencing a blip of late, but they got off to a great start as Walshaw stabbed them into a third-minute lead.
Ryan Semple equalised but Walshaw netted his second on the stroke of half-time.
Corby levelled in the second half through Jordan Ivey-Ward but Josh Wilson netted Guiseley’s winner three minutes later.
Brighouse Town went top of the Baris Northern Counties East League Premier Division, despite having keeper Tom Taylor sent off in the 28th minute.
That incident led to a penalty which Heanor Town’s Neil Grayson dispatched but Ryan Hall levelled early in the second half.
Heanor re-took the lead through Jez Mitchell but James Hurtley equalised minutes later, and Hall bagged his second in the last minute.
In Division One, Albion Sports came back from a goal down to earn a 1-1 draw at promotion rivals Cleethorpes Town.
The Bradford side should have taken a lead after Karl Hall was brought down in the area but Liam Ormsby’s spot-kick was saved.
Steve Cooper put the home side in front but Hall netted from the edge of the area.
Silsden suffered more disappointment in the North West Counties League Premier Division as they lost 2-0 at home to leaders Padiham.
Two goals in as many minutes just before the half-hour ended the Cobbydalers’ challenge.
Ben Allen netted both, the second from the spot after a foul by Chris Wademan.
