The organisers of Boxing Day’s Chevin Chase are hoping that the Brownlee brother will bid to continue their run of success in the popular race on Wednesday.

Both Olympic triathlon gold medal winner Alistair and world triathlon champion Jonny are among the 900 entries.

The Bramhope-based duo have dominated the event in recent years with Alistair winning it four times in 2005, 2007, 2008 and 2009 and Jonny triumphing in 2010 and 2011.

Alistair has a perfect record in the race with four wins from four starts, while Jonny was second to his brother in both 2008 and 20o9 before registering his first success in 2010.

Richard Archer, publicity officer for the organising Airecentre Pacers, said: “Alistair and Jonny have been great supporters of our race.

“Obviously we love to see them but we understand that they do have many other demands on their time.”

The race starts and finishes at Guiseley Infants School at 11am.

Spectators have been warned that there will be road closures in place around the Chevin during the race.

The maximum number of entries was reached within days of them being opened.
