After their enforced break last weekend when their Yorkshire Cup tie was frozen out at Wharfedale, Otley return to league action with a trip to Westoe.

The break should have allowed the Otley squad to rest their aching limbs and coach Tom Rock will be hoping they will all be refreshed as they tackle a Westoe side that is currently third from the bottom of the table.

Otley showed good form in their last outing when they defeated Preston Grasshoppers 22-20 at Cross Green and they would love to produce a repeat performance on their travels to end a run of five away defeats.

Victory would also give them a boost in the run up to Christmas which sees them host Birmingham next Saturday before visiting Huddersfield on December 22.

Rock is hoping that teenage stand off Ben Cooper will be able to take his place in the side.

Rock said: “He has been selected for a Scotland under-20 training camp this weekend, but we are hoping to persuade them to allow Ben to play.

“He missed a few games through injury last month and I think it would be beneficial for him to get some game time under his belt.”

Winger James Wood will be out of action until the new year after breaking a hand against Preston, and Rock added: “There are a couple more nursing niggles. It is important we check those out before naming our team.

“Games at Westoe are never easy and I don’t expect that to be any different on this occasion.”
