Teenage driver Josh White has taken another big step on the motorsport ladder.
The Formula Kart Stars racer has scooped a subsidised prize drive in the 2013 Ginetta Junior Champion ship with multiple title-winning team Hillspeed after emerging as the successful candidate from a scholarship ‘shoot-out’ featuring 12 of the best young competitors from the ranks of FKS.
Run as a joint venture between Hillspeed, Formula Kart Stars and Ginetta Cars, the assessment put each of the shortlisted racers through their paces at the wheel of a Ginetta G40 Junior car at Anglesey Circuit in North Wales – with Ilkley 16-year-old White coming out on top.
The announcement came just days after White competed in the Rotax Grand Finals in Portugal.
It is the world’s premier event and White caught the eye there too.
After impressing in the heats his hopes of glory in the Grand Final were shattered by a puncture sustained at the second bend on the first lap.
