Burley-in-Wharfedale school goes crackers at Chinese New Year
NURSERY pupils at Ghyll Royd School have been learning about all things Oriental to mark the Chinese New Year which is celebrated today.
The year 2008 is the Year of the Rat and the boys have been studying Chinese food and how the Oriental diet fits in with the school's policy of getting children to eat at least five portions of fruit and vegetables a day and developing a healthy lifestyle through exercise.
Head teacher Irene Connor said: "As part of their lessons, our nursery pupils looked at Chinese culture and had lots of fun making Chinese masks and dragons and trying different Chinese food."
And as the two-year-old youngster showed in the pictures above, after an anitial puzzled start, it didn't take him long to master the chopsticks.
