Prince Henry's science block to be ready by Easter
A NEW £5 million science block at Prince Henry's Grammar School will be opened by a member of the Royal family this spring.
Work on the 13-laboratory facility - which includes a new entrance and office accommodation - is due to be completed in March, and it will be handed over to the school during the Easter holidays, on Friday, March, 28.
An official opening, featuring town and city councillors and a still-to-be-confirmed member of the Royal family, is being arranged for soon afterwards.
Prince Henry's head teacher John Steel said: "It is fitting that this prestige development takes place as the school celebrates its 400th birthday, as it will safeguard quality education at the school for many more years to come.
"It is with great thanks to Willmott Dixon, the main contractors, who have worked extremely hard to ensure the project has run smoothly and deadlines have been met.
"All staff and students are extremely excited about the changes to the school, and look forward to the improved facilities that will only add to the success of an already exceptional school."
The school will also celebrate the completion of the new science wing when it holds a special dinner for past colleagues and friends, to mark its 400th anniversary, on Friday, July 4.
