Ashlands pupils have a healthy outlook
A HEALTHY lifestyle being encouraged at Ashlands Primary School in Ilkley has gained a Healthy Schools Award.
Teachers, governors, parents and children at the Leeds Road school worked together to come up with a three-year plan looking at four ways of giving pupils and healthier lifestyle.
The plan, which was examined by external inspectors, set out aims in personal and social health education, healthy eating, physical activity and emotional health and well-being. As well as getting the message across in lessons, the school is encouraging children to eat healthily at home and stay active outside of schools hours. Sports clubs meet every weekday evening at the school to provide physical activity for pupils in addition to their lessons.
