Addingham's wait is almost over

It is welcome news that an August opening date has been set for Addingham’s long-awaited new health centre.

Complex arguments over the funding meant getting the project off the ground at all was a slow process.

Then, just when, at last, it all seemed to be on schedule, the builders went into administration.

That Dr Adil Suleman, the man behind the project, has managed to keep going despite the many setbacks is to his credit. He found new contractors and just got on with the job, despite a further delay caused by bad weather.

Dr Suleman, the village GP, will lease the new centre which, it is estimated, has cost around £2 million, back to the primary care trust.

The people of Addingham have waited a long time for the new medical centre and have watched its progress with interest. We look forward to seeing their hopes for the modern health facility they deserve fulfilled.
