A-LEVEL art student, Alice Vaughan, from Addingham, has received her first commission - to produce two Tour artworks for Ilkley butcher David Lishman’s Reet Grand Party on Saturday.
Alice, who painted the sausage champion’s shop as part of her year 13 showcase, has transformed a red brick wall in Lishman’s car park, where the Grand Départ party will be held, to reveal a larger than life pig on two wheels.
The wall art will also be complemented by a large-scale design on the car park floor, featuring the #YorkshireSausage hashtag.
David said: “Alice is a hugely talented young artist so we were delighted when she accepted our challenge to paint the car park for the Reet Grand Party. Her cycling French pig is great fun and will be a fantastic talking point at our all-day Tour barbecue.”
Ilkley Grammar school student Alice, along with her classmate, Ilkley-based Lilian Baldwin who helped Alice paint the wall, will begin art foundation courses at Leeds College of Art in September.
Alice said: “The Grand Départ commission for the shop’s Reet Grand Party has definitely been a challenge to work on as I’ve never produced something on as large a scale as this before."
