A supermarket giant is looking for a ‘local hero’ to open a new £1m non-food store.
American-owned Asda has revealed its 30th Asda Living store begins trading at the West Side Retail Park in Guiseley on October 24, and is now looking for nominations to find someone to officially open it.
The store is ready for business after a £1m refurbishment, and will create about 70 full-time and part-time jobs after moving onto the site of the old Focus Do It All store.
The 27,000 sq ft two-floor department store will offer George clothing, homewares, electrical goods, furniture, CDs, DVDs and toys, with a large café containing facilities suitable for the whole family. Now the search is on for a hero to officially open the new store as a VIP guest.
Store manager, Chris Bridgeman, said: “As the newest addition to the area, we will be determined in our efforts to support the community.
“We want to celebrate those individuals who are already playing their part so we can follow their examples and ensure a true local hero opens our store.”
Heroes can be nominated by family, friends or work colleagues, and could be anyone from a super-mum to someone who just makes life better for people in the Guiseley area. The chosen hero will receive a £150 gift card and will be the person of honour on the day, officially cutting the ribbon on the new store.
Nominations are being accepted until Wednesday, and can be sent via e-mail to prasda@havasww.com or in writing to: Asda Living Guiseley Hero, Third floor, 52 Princess Street, Manchester M1 6JX.
Mr Bridgeman said: “Customers will be happy to find the same value they would in our other supermarkets and stores, and we hope they’ll be impressed with our fantastic range.”
