Rawdon Billing Action Group (RBAG) is appealing to local people to support the campaign to protect the land from development.

The group has just submitted its own report to the council arguing the case for the retention of greenbelt status.

RBAG was established earlier this year to oppose development on the Rawdon Billing and surrounding land – about 220 acres in total. The land, which is privately owned has been put up for sale. The group says a forthcoming Leeds City Council review of greenbelt allocations could leave it under threat from development.

A spokesman said: “Public support is vital to safeguard the future of this green asset, and RBAG is reaching out to local residents and encour-aging them to write to the LCC planning department and their respective councillors in support of the retention of the greenbelt designation of the land, before it is too late.
