The sun shone down and the crowds turned out in force to enjoy Bramhope Show on Sunday.

After a summer when a number of events were hit by torrential rain, organisers in Bramhope could not have asked for a better day.

With stalls and sideshows, music and afternoon tea, everything was in place for visitors to enjoy themselves.

This year’s show boasted eight categories for adults, with 63 classes and a total of 189 rosette winners for first, second or third place.

Children were able to enter 21 classes, and 41 youngsters won prize money donated by Bramhope Youth Develop-ment Fund for first, second or third place.

One of the organisers, Helen Smith, said: “The sun shone, the tombola and cake stall in the marquee enjoyed great success, the children’s pet show and games on the tennis court were enjoyed and we were all suitably impressed by the Leeds Rhinos World Cup Championship and Grand Final trophies and an Olympic torch.”

She said local charities attending the show in order to raise awareness and funds included the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, the Royal British Legion and Help for Heroes.

Helen added: “The tearoom was busy all afternoon, the singers and the children’s entertainers added to the atmosphere of fun, and we ended the show with our local Member of Parliament, Greg Mulholland, presenting the winners’ trophies.”
