New festival online ticket system push
8:00am Saturday 28th July 2012 in Local news By Jonathan Redhead
Organisers of a popular week-long festival have launched a new online ticket system to encourage more people to book places for the host of attractions.
Thousands of people are expected to attend the Burley-in-Wharfedale summer festival, which begins on August 18 and boasts a packed programme of events and activities for young and old alike.
Visitors can now book tickets for events via links to the summer festival pages at the burley-in-wharfedale.org website. It gives full details of all the attractions on offer, many of which are free.
A festival spokesman said there will be plenty for people to get involved in.
He added: “The festival gets underway with activities including street dance for eight to 12-year-olds, a dog show and music in the park.
“For the first time, local residents and businesses will be taking part in a scarecrow competition, and visitors can also have a go at the treasure hunt around the village.
“The classic vehicle show, which takes place on August 19, is one of the most popular attractions of the festival, and organisers have scheduled a festival market, arts and craft market, ponies in the park and a performance by Silsden Town Band to entertain the crowds.”
Organisers are still looking for producers who want to book stalls, priced £15, at the festival market and the art and craft market. E-mail s.tilford@btinternet.com or call (01943) 863218.
An activities booking form is included in the Burley Festival brochure, which has been distributed to local residents and is also available at libraries in Ilkley, Menston, Addingham and Otley.
Bookings for events can also be made by post or in person at the Queens Hall in Burley-In-Wharfe-dale on Wednesday mornings between 9.30am and 12.30pm, or at the village library on Saturday mornings.
