Horsforth School has received national recognition for its GCSE results – described as some of the best in the country.
The Specialist Science School has won high praise for its results in 2011 which put it in the top ten per cent of non-selective schools in England.
It has been commended for the proportion of top grades achieved by its pupils in 2011 – and other schools have been told they could learn from its success.
Horsforth is shown to be among the top achievers in new rankings just released by SSAT, the representative body for schools.
Its ranking in the top ten per cent was based on the percentage of students achieving 5+ A*-A GCSEs, including English and mathematics. At least 19 per cent of students were required to achieve this in order for a school to be included – and Horsforth’s score was 24 per cent.
