Bootcamp members battle the bulge

Drivers on the A65 have been tooting their support for a group of athletes training on Ashlands Field in Ilkley.

The first in a series of summer bootcamps, designed and run by Dillons Fitness Studio, was held on the public recreation field.

The sessions take place three times a week, and are aimed at all ages and fitness levels – the current group of 28 people has an average age of 45, with the oldest ‘camper’ a sprightly 70 years.

The camp includes a nutri-tion guide and menu plan created by Dillons owners, husband-and-wife team Rich-ard and Gail Dillon. Campers can also take advantage of a personalised physical assess-ment before they start training, providing a useful benchmark for their targets.

Mr Dillon said: “The aim of the plan is to support the hard fitness work the team is doing with an eating plan that will boost metabolism and get to the parts that really matter, like the harmful visceral fat that surrounds our organs. Shifting this invisible fat is just as important as losing the wobbly fat we see on the surface, and has a real impact on long-term health.”

A dedicated online Facebook group helps team members support each other with encouraging messages and recipe tips, as well as hosting extra video content showing exercises they can do at home.
