Residents can cut energy bills with insulation scheme at home

Ilkley and district householders are being urged to take advantage of a free insulation scheme.

Community Warmth offers free cavity wall and loft insulation but the scheme, provided by Bradford Council and npower, is likely to end this year.

To take up the offer, people have to live in suitable properties which are owner occupied or privately rented and currently have less than 60mm of loft insulation.

There is no need to be an npower customer.

It is estimated that cavity wall insulation reduces household energy bills by about £135 a year, while the correct amount of loft insulation could save up to £175.

Councillor Andrew Thornton, the Council's executive member for the environment, sport and sustainability, said: “This scheme directly benefits any household that wants to take up the insulation measures and saves people money off their annual energy bills.

“It is very good news for the Bradford district and the Council is proud to be playing the lead role on behalf of our residents.”
