Site is earmarked for new homes

A boarded-up former day centre in Ben Rhydding, earmarked as a site for affordable housing, could be demolished this summer.

Housing trust group Incommunities has submitted a prior notification to Bradford Council planners for the demolition of the disused Moor Court and two wardens’ bungalows, on Fieldway.

The land is expected to be developed by Bradford Council to provide affordable homes, but no planning applications have been submitted to date. Incommunities plans to level the Moor Court site, cover it with topsoil and reseed it, handing maintenance over to Bradford Council.

Planning permission was granted recently for the development of 25 three-bedroom family homes on a neighbouring plot, formerly occupied by sheltered housing complex Dale Court.

Of these, five will be retained by Incommunities, some will be sold under rent-to-buy arrangements and others will be sold privately to help fund the development.
