A Wharfedale company started by Ilkley parents to help children swim has won national acclaim for the third year running.
Water Babies, founded by Paul and Jess Thompson in 2002, scooped the top prize in What’s on 4 Little Ones 2010, winning the best national baby and toddler development activity award. The Guiseley-based business beat 2,500 nominations to take the title and more than 27,000 votes were cast.
Arran MacDonald, who runs classes in Wharfedale, said they were overwhelmed at the response of their clients and added: “To have won this national award again totally reflects on the dedication of the whole Water Babies team. As parents ourselves, we appreciate that this is one of the most magical times in people’s lives, so work incredibly hard to enhance it.
“We’re so grateful to all our fantastic clients for taking the time to nominate and vote for us.”
Water Babies uses a structured programme to make the most of babies’ natural affinity with water and has become the world’s largest swimming company for youngsters, teaching more than 20,000 children each week.
