An Ilkley runner is planning a charity hat-trick by competing in three sponsored events.

Ruth Kidd has vowed to complete ten kilometre runs in Hull, Leeds and York in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support over the summer of 2010.

Ruth, pictured, who took part in two Jane Tomlinson 10k runs last year, said: “I will be running in honour of close family members who have fought brave battles and come out smiling – here’s to a healthy, happy 2010.”

Macmillan fundraising manager for Ilkley, Roohi Lupton, said: “Ruth has taken on a huge challenge, but I know her passion for helping more people affected by cancer will help her reach the finish line at each run. Without people like Ruth, we would not be able to provide the support we do for cancer patients and their families. Ruth will be making a huge difference.”
