A FASHION designer from Addingham parachuted in at short notice to make the costumes fit for dancers in singer Cheryl Cole’s latest music video.

Jaz Oldham, 44, of Low Mill, is more often to be found designing and making wedding dresses, but thanks to her friendship with the mother of a London designer, landed herself the task of making clothes in haste for a video shoot.

The 26-year-old Girls Aloud star, propelled to greater fame as the wife of football star Ashley Cole and more recently as a judge in top TV talent show The X Factor, this week release the video for her new single, 'Parachute' featuring black capes created by Jaz.

Jaz explained that the garments had to be light and easy to move in. The video features a circle of eight smartly-dressed and well choreographed male dancers dancing around the singer.

Jaz was initially contacted in late January asking if she knew any designers in London who could take on the work at short notice. She replied that she could do it herself and a supply of black heavyweight cotton fabric was swiftly delivered to her in Addingham.

She raided local haberdashery Duttons for Buttons, in Ilkley town centre, for the many buttons needed on the garments and set about making up the garments, a hybrid of a cape and a sleeveless coat.

Working to get them finished in time for the shoot, she found herself working until 3am one morning. Within a couple of days of completing them, the capes had gone back to London, and become a part of the pop video.
