The Great Yorkshire Show, one of the country’s leading countryside events, takes place in the spa town of Harrogate next week – and readers have a chance to win tickets to be part of it.

Leeds Bradford International Airport (LBIA) has joined forces with event organisers and Wharfedale Newspapers to offer two readers the chance to win family tickets worth £47 each.

This year LBIA will be hosting a site at stand 148. There will be a variety of activities at the stand including holiday offers, children’s giveaways and a free flights prize draw. In addition, staff will be on hand to brief visitors on the exciting new developments proposed at the airport.

The annual celebration of farming and rural life runs from Tuesday to Thursday, July 14 to 16 at the 250-acre Great Yorkshire Showground.

The action-packed programme includes all the usual favourites, along with a number of new attractions for 2009.

The main ring is the hub of the show, providing a wonderful setting for international show jumping and the world-class cattle parade.

Other highlights of the annual show include a superb display of the region’s food and drink in the purpose-built Food Hall, cookery demonstrations, a flower show, art show and specialist cheese and dairy Show.

Cutting-edge fashion will be on display – and for the first time there will be a men’s fashion show, featuring the finalists of the Model Young Farmer competition.

Music is always a popular feature of the Great Yorkshire Show and this year The Yorkshire Volunteers Military Band and the North Stars Steel Band will be entertaining the crowds throughout the three-day event.

The Great Yorkshire Show also presents a fantastic opportunity to browse the hundreds of stands selling everything from tractors to garden sheds and Jacuzzi baths to wellington boots, meeting friends and just watching country life go by.
