AIREDALE Hospital has earned a top accolade.

It has been named as one of the leading five in the CHKS Top Hospitals national patient safety awards.

The scheme honours acute-sector organisations for their achievements in healthcare quality and improvement.

Awards are given based on 16 indicators, including rates of hospital-acquired infections and mortality.

The data is drawn from information regularly submitted by hospitals to NHS Digital, to help track performance.

Stacey Hunter, chief operating officer at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, said: "We are delighted that we've been recognised in the top five CHKS Top Hospitals programme for patient safety – and for the seventh time achieved a Top 40 Hospital award.

"This reflects the dedication and commitment of our teams – which we are very proud of – and is made possible because of their hard work all day, every day on behalf of our local population."
