BROWNIES from Guiseley have been out walking for Guide Dogs.

Members of the 2nd Guiseley Methodist Brownies completed a sponsored 'peg walk' around Yeadon Tarn on Thursday, May 17 to raise money for the charity.

They were accompanied by fundraising guide dog owner and Yeadon resident Kevin Beesting and his dog, Spencer.

A total of 21 girls, aged between seven and nine, took part and had been sponsored by family and friends to collect clothes pegs from various points around the tarn.

The fundraiser followed a talk that Mr Beesting gave to the Brownies, who were working towards their disabled awareness badges, about what life is like with a guide dog.

Brownie Guider Dawn Solomon said: "The girls wanted to do the walk for Guide Dogs as a thank you to Kevin for his help in gaining their badges."

The pack is still collecting the sponsorship money but expects to be able to announce the grand total within a few weeks.
