ESTIMATED timings for Tour de Yorkshire related road closures in Otley and Ilkley have been confirmed.

The big annual cycle race - organised by Welcome to Yorkshire - will pass through Otley twice this year, on Friday, May 4 and again on Sunday, May 6.

?Ilkley, meanwhile, will be one of the event’s ‘hub’ towns on May 4, for the Barnsley to Ilkley stage for both the Men and Women’s races.

As such, it will see a number of roads, including The Grove, Cowpasture Road and Brook Street, closed from 5am to 10pm.

Also closed on the day will be the Tesco to Station Road section of Springs Lane and Keighley Road, from Green Lane over the moor.

Additional rolling road closures will be in place, too, when the races get to town.

The women’s race is expected to arrive, via Denton Road, at 12.15pm and the A65 junction with New Brook Street and Brook Street is set to be closed from 11.45am to 1.15pm.

The men’s race, meanwhile, is due to reach Ilkley (also on Denton Road) at 5.40pm and the junction with New Brook Street and Brook Street will again be closed, from about 5.10pm to 6.40pm.

Ilkley Lido will be closed throughout the event too, while the car park will be be closed to the public.

In Otley, the Friday rolling road closures will be in place from half an hour before the first riders are due to arrive until they leave, about 30 minutes later.

Both the Women’s and the Men’s races will reach Otley on May 4, at 12.08pm and 5.37pm respectively, so the closures will be from about 11.30am to 12.30pm and from 5pm to 6pm.

The roads affected for both events will be: Leeds Road, Gay Lane, Bondgate, Kirkgate, Clapgate, Bridge Street, Billams Hill and Weston Lane.

On Sunday, May 6 a similar rolling road closure will be in place (this time the route includes Newall Carr Road, Billams Hill to Gay Lane, and East Chevin Road).

The cyclists are expected to reach Otley at 4.27pm on the day, so the closures will run from about 4pm to 5pm.

In addition, a permanent road closure will be in place on May 6, from midnight until about 7pm, on East Chevin Road.
