SOME of Wharfedale's youngest citizens have been donning flat caps - for charity.

Jolly Tots Pre School Nursery, in Burley-in-Wharfedale, is supporting Brain Tumour Research and Support across Yorkshire (BTRS) this year.

So the nursery teamed up with the charity in March for its Flat Cap Friday event, part of Brain Tumour Awareness Month, and raised £196.

The whole nursery got involved, with children and staff wearing flat caps for a whole week and also taking part in BTRS' design a flat cap competition.

A child from Jolly Tots was among the three regional winners of the contest, all of whom will see their designs turned into real caps by designer Kempadoo-Millar.

BTRS' Events and Fundraising Manager, Sorrell Coulson, said: "It has been fantastic to have the support of Jolly Tots; they have been really enthusiastic getting involved in our Flat Cap Friday campaign and all of the children’s designs were absolutely fabulous.

"Their support means such a lot to the charity."
