A PUBLIC meeting will take place in Yeadon this week to discuss a proposed upgrade to the gas distribution network on High Street.

Local people are being invited to the meeting at Yeadon Methodist Church, Chapel Hill, LS19 7RG from 4.30pm to 6.30pm on Thursday, March 1. The event is being organised by the north of England’s gas distributor, Northern Gas Networks.

NGN says the project is part of its ongoing investment in the gas infrastructure in the area and involves replacing existing metal gas pipes with more durable plastic ones. The company says this will ensure the continued, safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in the area for years to come.

People living in the area are being invited to share their thoughts on the project which is scheduled to take place later this year, and which is expected to last about ten weeks. The gas company says the work may cause some delays but it says it is engaging with local people to ensure disruption is kept to a minimum.

Construction manager Josh Hampshire said: "As with all projects, we work closely with the local authority to ensure as little disruption as possible."

He urged people to come to the event and share their thoughts so that the company could plan the project accordingly.
