A COUPLE from Wharfedale got the chance to indulge their love of Yorkshire’s famous rhubarb when they won a competition organised by Ilkley’s new drinks venue, The Ticket Office.
In a competition to design a cocktail, Burley-in-Wharfedale couple Linda and Colin Gornall scooped first prize with their winning recipe for a Yorkshire Rhubarb Express - a heady mix of Yorkshire rhubarb gin, rhubarb syrup, lemon juice, rhubarb bitters and prosecco. Their prize was a visit to The Ticket Office where the couple created their winning tipple.
“The inspiration for the cocktail came from my love of rhubarb,” said Linda. “Making the cocktail was great fun but there’s a lot more to it than I realised. The team at The Ticket Office are real masters and they make mixing cocktails look easy. I think I’m better at drinking cocktails than I am at making them!”
General Manager of The Ticket Office, Lawrence Doyle said: “Colin and Linda were worthy winners – their recipe packed a real punch and showcased the delicate and tangy flavour of Yorkshire rhubarb."
The Ticket Office is Ilkley’s newest independent, premium drinks venue. Located in the Victorian railway station, the bar specialises in innovative cocktails, premium wines, champagnes and spirits, and craft beers.
