ROTARIANS in Otley have held a successful night of carol singing.
The Rotary Club of Otley Chevin collected well over £1,000 by singing Christmas favourites at local restaurants in the run-up to December 25.
The proceeds will go to a number of good causes including Martin House Children's Hospice, St Gemma's Hospice and the Sue Ryder Wheatfields Hospice.
The singers were especially moved by one donation that was made at Buon Apps' recently opened second restaurant in town, at Garnett Wharfe.
George Duncan from the Rotary Club of Otley Chevin said: "Just as we were about to leave a young waiter came up to put some money in the bucket.
"He carefully counted out a small amount of coin from that in his hand and put the rest in the bucket, while saying he needed some for the bus fare home.
"This gesture has touched our hearts more than any I can remember."
